Each House of Maryam piece is carefully crafted using delicate fabrics, intricate embroidery, and hand-finished embellishments. To preserve its structure, color, and craftsmanship, we recommend following the care guidelines below. As many garments are made to order and feature handcrafted detailing, proper care is essential to maintain their original elegance.

General Care
  • Dry Clean Recommended: Dry clean all formal, embroidered, and embellished garments to maintain their finish and delicate detailing.
  • Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash or hand wash delicate or stitched garments, as this may damage the fabric, embroidery, and embellishments.
  • Air Dry Only: Do not tumble dry. Allow garments to air dry in the shade to help preserve their color.
  • Steam or Iron Carefully: Steaming is recommended for delicate fabrics. If ironing is necessary, use a low heat setting and always iron the garment inside out.
  • Avoid Direct Heat on Embellishments: Never apply an iron or direct heat to sequins, beads, crystals, pearls, or embroidery.
  • Handle with Care: Avoid wringing, twisting, scrubbing, or pulling on embroidered and embellished areas, as the handwork is delicate.
  • Store Thoughtfully: Hang garments whenever possible, especially heavily embellished pieces, to help maintain their shape. Avoid tightly folding or wrapping embroidered areas, as prolonged pressure may flatten or damage embellishments. Store in a cool, dry place using breathable garment bags.
  • Minimise Friction: Avoid excessive rubbing or direct contact with embroidered and embellished areas, as this may loosen or damage delicate handwork.
  • Spare Embellishments: Where available, spare beads, sequins, tassels, buttons, or other embellishments are included as a goodwill gesture for future repairs. Please note that not every design includes spare embellishments.
Fabric Specific Care

Chiffon: Lightweight and delicate. Handle gently and steam instead of ironing whenever possible.

Organza: Use low heat if ironing. Avoid excessive pressure to preserve its crisp texture.

Silk & Silk Blends: Dry clean only. Keep away from water and prolonged direct sunlight to preserve color and sheen.

Lawn & Cotton: Can be lightly ironed using moderate heat. Avoid excessive temperatures that may weaken the fabric.

Net & Embroidered Fabrics: Extremely delicate. Prevent snagging by avoiding rough surfaces and handling with care.

Velvet: Do not iron directly. Use steam from a safe distance to restore texture without crushing the pile.

Due to the handcrafted nature of our garments, slight variations in embroidery, embellishments, and finishing may occur. With proper care, your House of Maryam piece will retain its beauty and elegance for years to come.
